Elysia Rotaru was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents who immigrated to North America from Romania. This bilingual beauty is an up-and- coming force set to make her mark in the entertainment industry.
Growing up, Elysia’s father introduced her to tools and the outdoors, while her mother ensured that she enrolled in piano and dance classes. Her sense of performance developed at a very young age that evolved from dancing and singing in her living room, to being on big stages for piano recitals and competitions. In elementary school and high school she was always granted a large part in every play and those events propelled her towards exploring that in University. Elysia found her love and her niche in the theatre at Simon Fraser University. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in theatre performance.
Elysia’s career as an actor took off in 2008 after signing with her first Film and TV agent. Since then Elysia has landed numerous guest star roles in both television series and films. A few of her credits include appearances on The CW’s “Smallville”, “Hellcats”, “iZombie” and “Supernatural”, USA Network’s “Psych”, “Eureka”, FOX’S “Backstrom” and “Rush”, ABC’s “Motive” and Warner Bros, DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: 2. In 2014 Elysia had the Halloween style slasher film GIRLHOUSE premiere at Screamfest LA. She also had the short film EARTHLICKERS premiere at the Crazy 8s Film Festival and at the Whistler Film Festival that same year. In the summer of 2015 Elysia landed a recurring role on The CW’s “Arrow” as Taiana Venediktov alongside Stephen Amell. And in the fall of 2016, Elysia was cast along side film icon Danny Trejo, in a Universal Studios feature film titled, DEAD AGIAN IN TOMBSTONE.
She also made her debut as a producer with the short film titled THE WALL, which she also starred in. THE WALL went on to screen at the Whistler Film Festival 2015 and Atlanta Horror Festival 2016, where it received the ‘Spotlight Horror Film Award.’ Elysia co-stars in another short film titled RUN which won a 2016 Leo Award for Best Cinematography in a Short Drama and is screening at LA Lift-off Film Festival 2016 and Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2016. Most recently RUN won Best Editor, Best Sound Design and best Cinematography at the 2017 Vancouver Short Film Festival.
Concurrently with her growing ‘on camera’ career, Elysia is also a sought after Voice-Over actor. Due to her versatility and range, Elysia works in all fields of the voice-over industry and has hundreds of projects under her belt from commercials, to animation, to voicing operating systems for companies. As a leading professional in her craft and a well recognized member of the artistic community, Elysia Rotaru is on the rise both ‘on screen’ and in the sound booth.
